Traffic Rules, Public, Traffic Police And A Reality

“If you want to see that how much a nation is civilize then watch the traffic system of that nation”. It is in the case of Pakistan’s traffic system. Traffic System in Pakistan is always seen as the victim of mismanagement. This all is not only due to the carelessness of traffic police but public is also responsible for this vulnerable situation. Behavior of our public is highly condemnable. People do not follow the traffic rules, even they don’t regard for the rights of each other.

Right of one is duty of other, but unfortunately this rule is violated every time on our roads openly. Responsibility of traffic management is 90% over public and only 10 % is over the Traffic Police. But all the liability is always put over the heads and shoulders of traffic police department. Traffic police has to teach people in order to make them good followers of traffic rules.

It is up to the public to follow the traffic laws in a mannered way. Traffic police enforces the laws as model only. It is not possible for a single officer to challan each and every violator, when 80% vehicles violate laws at a chowk. People have very low sense about traffic rules even well suited and educated peoples consider the breakage of traffic rules as a thing of honour and bravery. Some “ Brave Country Fellows” violate the traffic rules even in the presence of traffic officers. Voluntarily obeying of traffic rules is a dream in our country. Important stakeholders like lawyers, media persons, members of civil society and business community do not pay attention to educate the people for building traffic sense. Members of civil society, lawyers and media persons break the traffic rules by themselves, then how can they ask the others to obey the traffic rules.

“ The king can do know wrong” is a rule in the British constitution but in Pakistani society everyone is like British King. Lawyers, media persons, members of civil society business community and parliamentarians and even their servants are “King” for traffic police officers because they violate the traffic rules without any hesitation and fear. They challenged traffic police officers to challan them.

If some traffic sergeants try to challan some “powerful person” or his driver then they receive a powerful phone calls, resultantly the Traffic Wardens have to leave the violators who threatens the traffic sergeants.

This is attitude of our public. So in this situation how is it possible for the traffic police to enforce the laws lonely absolutely not? Without the support of society, it is not possible, so we are representing an ugly face of our nation to other disciplined and organized nations of the world. Consequently, We are far behind in the way of progress as compared to the other nations.

In last, Anam Khalid (school teacher in punjab) says to Pakistani Nation, “Please think about it”.
